1. About these terms

1.1 These terms apply to every service from Abbietails Canine College ("we", "us"), including 1:1 sessions, courses, boot camps, residential training and online programmes ("Services").

52-+1.2 "You" means the person making the booking. You are also responsible for anyone who attends or handles your dog on your behalf.

1.3 By paying a deposit/full course amount or signing the client agreement, you confirm you have read and accepted these terms.

2. Bookings and payment

2.1 A £100 deposit is required to secure any 1:1 session, course or boot camp. It is deducted from the total fee.

2.2 Full payment is due 7 days before the start date. If paying in installments or through buy now pay later, the first payment is due at least 7 days before the start date.

2.3 We may rearrange your booking if payment has not been received as set out above.

2.4 Options and prices sent after your initial consultation are valid for 3 months.

4. Cancellations and missed sessions

4.1 After the 14-day period, your deposit is non-refundable because it covers time we reserve and turn other clients away for.

4.2 If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, the fee for that session or the deposit (whichever applies) is kept.

4.3 1:1 sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or not attended, are lost and cannot be rescheduled.

4.4 We may cancel or rearrange a session because of illness, bad weather, unsafe conditions or a dog's welfare. We will offer a new date for that session.

5. Money back guarantee

5.1 Every dog is different, and results depend heavily on the owner's commitment at home. Because we stand behind our programmes, we offer a full money back guarantee to owners who follow the programme in full.

5.2 You will receive a full refund of your course fee if, after completing the full programme, all of the following apply:

• you attended every scheduled session
• you followed all training guidance, advice and homework consistently
• you provided daily proof and updates of training
• there has been no measurable improvement in your dog's behaviour, as assessed by your trainer
• you gave full and honest information about your dog under clause 6, and told us promptly about any new incidents, health changes or changes at home
• you had your dog checked by a vet before starting, or when we asked, to rule out pain or medical causes, and followed any vet advice
• you used only the equipment, methods and management plan we set (including muzzles and avoiding triggers between sessions)
• your dog did not work with any other trainer or behaviourist during the programme without our written agreement
• you completed any assessments, questionnaires or progress check-ins we asked for
• your course fee was paid in full and on time

5.3 To claim, email us within 7 days of completing the programme, with your training records and daily updates. We will review your claim and, if it qualifies, refund you within 14 days to your original payment method.

5.4 The guarantee does not apply if any condition above is not met, or for missed sessions, leaving the programme early, or a change in your circumstances. It covers the course fee only, not boarding, travel, equipment or products bought separately.

5.5 Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights if a Service is not carried out with reasonable care and skill.

6. Telling us about your dog

6.1 Before your first session, you must give us full and honest information about your dog, including:

• any bite, attempted bite, nip or attack on a person or animal, however minor
• any aggression, reactivity or triggers you know of
• any history with the police, a dog warden or a court order relating to your dog
• health conditions, injuries, pain, medication, allergies and food intolerances
• whether your dog is muzzle trained

6.2 You must tell us straight away about any change, including new incidents between sessions.

6.3 If you leave out or misstate information that would have affected how we trained or handled your dog, we are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage that results.

6.4 We may refuse, pause or end training at any time if we believe it is unsafe for anyone, including your dog. If this happens because information was withheld, no refund is due.

6.5 We may ask that your dog wears a well-fitted basket muzzle during some or all sessions. You agree to follow this.

7. Health, vaccinations and parasites

7.1 Your dog must be fully vaccinated and treated for internal and external parasites. We may ask for proof.

7.2 If you choose not to vaccinate, you do so at your own risk and accept responsibility for any illness your dog catches or passes on.

7.3 We cannot guarantee there is no risk of disease at any venue, or from other dogs or shared equipment such as toys.

7.4 Tell us before the session if your dog has been unwell or in contact with a dog carrying a contagious disease. We may rearrange the session.

7.5 Your dog must be fit and well enough for the session. Tell us if your dog comes into season so we can plan ahead.

7.6 If your dog has allergies or food intolerances, tell us beforehand and bring suitable food and treats.

8. Equipment

8.1 Your dog must arrive in a well-fitted, secure collar or harness and lead in good condition.

8.2 We are responsible for faults in equipment we provide. We are not responsible for failure of equipment you provide, or for injury, escape or damage caused by it.

8.3 We will explain any training equipment we recommend or use, and you may ask questions at any time.

9. Safety during sessions

9.1 You must follow your trainer's instructions at all times.

9.2 Keep your dog on a lead and under control at all times unless your trainer tells you otherwise.

9.3 Your dog remains in your care and control during sessions, whether or not a trainer is present or handling your dog.

9.4 Children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. We may ask that children do not attend sessions with reactive dogs.

9.5 Do not let your dog approach, greet or interact with other people or dogs on site unless your trainer allows it.

9.6 Any accident or injury, however minor, must be reported to us before you leave so it can be recorded.

10. Risk of injury

10.1 Working with dogs, especially reactive or anxious dogs, carries a risk of injury to people and dogs, including bites, scratches, being pulled over, trips and falls. We take every reasonable step to reduce this risk, but it cannot be removed completely.

10.2 By booking, you confirm that you understand and accept this risk for yourself and your dog.

10.3 You must tell anyone who comes with you, or attends in your place, that they attend at their own risk and must follow these terms and our instructions.

10.4 Some sessions involve working your dog near our own dogs or other clients' dogs. We use precautions we judge suitable, such as distance, leads, barriers and muzzles. You understand that contact between dogs can still happen, and you consent to your dog taking part on that basis.

10.5 Our own dogs are only used in training where we believe it is safe. If one of our dogs injures your dog or you, our liability is decided under clause 12.

11. Your responsibility for your dog

11.1 As owner, you are legally responsible for your dog and its behaviour at all times, including during training.

11.2 You agree to indemnify (compensate) Abbietails Canine College, its trainers and staff for any claim, loss, cost or damage arising from:

• injury caused by your dog to any person, including you, your companions, our trainers and staff, and other clients
• injury caused by your dog to any other animal
• damage caused by your dog to any property, vehicle or equipment
• any information you withheld or misstated under clause 6

11.3 This does not apply where the loss was caused by our own negligence.

12. Our liability

12.1 We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

12.2 Apart from that, we are not responsible for injury, illness, loss or damage to you, your dog or your property unless it is caused by our negligence or breach of these terms.

12.3 We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable when you booked, or for business losses.

12.4 Our total liability to you for any other loss is limited to the fees you paid for the Service concerned.

12.5 We are not responsible for your dog's behaviour, or any incident involving your dog, outside our sessions.

13. Insurance

13.1 We hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

13.2 You must have third-party liability insurance that covers your dog, for example through your pet insurance or home insurance, and we recommend vet fee cover.

15. Photos, videos and your information

15.1 We may take photos or videos during sessions to share on our website and social media. Tell us in writing if you do not want images of you or your dog used.

15.2 You may not record sessions without our permission.

15.3 We keep your personal information confidential and do not sell or share it with third parties, except where required by law or needed to deliver the Services (for example, your vet in an emergency). We handle your data in line with UK GDPR.

15.4 We may send you occasional emails and marketing. You can opt out at any time.

15.5 All training plans, videos and materials we provide are for your personal use and may not be shared or resold.

16. General

16.1 If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.

16.2 We may update these terms. The version in force when you booked applies to that booking.

16.3 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
